Abstract
Background: Extensive surgery is the only possibility to achieve long term survival in patients with retroperitoneal sarcomas (RS). Complete surgery for RS usually requires removal of adjacent organs. More than one third cases of multivisceral resection for RS include concomitant nephrectomy. But postoperative pathological investigation reveal direct kidney involvement by tumor in less than half of cases.
