Abstract

The measured elastic recovery of viscose rayon fibres is dependent on the time the fibres are held at a given extension and on the time allowed for their recovery. An empirical equation has been derived which covers times of 0—5 min, both for time under extension and time of recovery. Within the quoted time limits, values ranging between 22.6% and 80% can be recorded as the elastic recovery of viscose rayon from 5% extension. Fibre elastic recovery is discussed in relation to fabric crease-recovery.
