Abstract

AbstractWe introduce two bio‐photonic applications of liquid crystals. One is the ophthalmic lenses with large aperture size. The challenge and the solutions are discussed. The other is the biosensing devices based on a switchable surface of a liquid crystal and polymer composite film, such as a sperm testing devices and high‐density lipoproteins. Liquid crystals indeed have great potentials beyond displays.
