Abstract

AbstractIn this paper, fully vertical integration of a hybrid transflective device consisting of a PDLC and an OLED with OPV, encapsulated by two glass substrates, were demonstrated. These three devices can be functioned by applying the driving voltage or illuminant, individually. Self‐assembled monolayer (SAM) and passivation layer are dominant factors of this hybrid device. SAM played as a key role to tandem the OPV and TOLED by raising the work function. Passivation also used to prevent the OPV and TOLED from liquid crystal penetration. In this hybrid device, PDLC and TOLED offer a good contrast ratio (CR) in ambient and dark, respectively. The OPV serves to enhance the ambient CR due to the absorptive black background behind this hybrid device. In addition, the OPV also acts as a power generator and recycler to achieve the power saving.
