Abstract

Purpose: Complete mechanical unloading induces left ventricular (LV) atrophy, which may impair “bridge to recovery” during support with an LV-assist system (LVAS). LV is reloaded to wean from LVAS; however, little is known about physiologic differences between completely and partially unloaded LV.
