Abstract

This study describes the quantification of the inflammation parameters cytokines and eicosanoids in dermal interstitial fluid (dISF) samples during the process of wound healing. The dISF samples were collected with the minimally invasive sampling method open flow microperfusion (OFM) and split skin wounds were induced in farm pigs at a depth of 0.6 mm. The cytokine and eicosanoid concentrations were monitored in six and two days old wounds and compared to fresh wounds (directly after wounding) and to control sites (non-wounded skin).
