Abstract
In the US, young adults are the most likely age group to be uninsured. Gaps in health insurance coverage commonly occur during career and life transitions. Although it affects millions annually, little is known about the continuity of health insurance coverage as young adults transition from college. This study aimed to: (1) estimate the prevalence of being uninsured and the sociodemographic correlates of uninsurance among young adults after completion of 4 years of college; and (2) examine the relationship of insurance coverage with health status and health-risk behaviors.
