Abstract
The goals of this session are: 1) to provide an update on current prescription pharmacologic options available for the treatment of pediatric insomnia; 2) to review the data supporting safety and efficacy of over-the-counter (OTC) medications, including melatonin; and 3) to present an outline to assist the child mental health professional in developing a practical and rational approach to using sedative hypnotic drugs in clinical practice, including patient and medication selection and potential pitfalls in management.
