Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the relation between the speech articulation and the sound characteristics of the reproduced sound by various speakers under car interior noise. In this paper, piezoelectric speakers and dynamic speakers were compared. We conducted articulation evaluations in actual automobile interior, and then, we recorded reproduction sounds by each speaker using a binaural mannequin seated in the driver s seat. Results showed that piezoelectric speaker produces high articulation score than dynamic speaker. According to recoded sound by mannequin, loudness level of piezoelectric speaker is higher than dynamic speaker. It is conjectured that piezoelectric loudspeaker provides broad directivity than dynamic loudspeaker.
