Abstract

Diagnosis of keratinocyte carcinoma (KC) considerably increases future skin cancer risk of all types. The major evidence-based approach to lowering skin cancer risk is sunscreen use to protect against ultraviolet radiation. According to most theories, once individuals perceive their vulnerability to health risks, they form intentions to take preventative measures to reduce their risk. Two major perceived risk measures are absolute (i.e., one’s perception of the likelihood of developing a disease) and comparative (i.e., one’s perception of the likelihood of developing a disease as compared with others) [1].
