Abstract

Background: Topical products, climate changes, and skin barrier impairment are the main factors contributing to skin hyperreactivity in sensitive skin population. Recent epidemiologic studies have shown its high prevalence and negative impacts on quality of life. Involucrin, a differentiation marker expressed by differentiated keratinocytes, has been found to have increased expression in SLS-damaged skin. A nature-based topical product containing aloe, rice milk and honey was developed to restore compromised skin barrier and provide relief from skin discomfort.
