Abstract

Background: Atypical mole syndrome (AMS) patients have an increased risk for developing nevus associated and de novo melanomas that are detected based on morphology and change relative to baseline images. Electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) has been shown to improve melanoma detection. It scores lesions from 1-10, with scores ≥4 indicating a progressively increased pre-test probability for melanoma. However, its utility in evaluating nevi in AMS patients requires further study.
