Abstract
Background: Chemical peeling is the controlled wounding of the epidermis and dermis for medical and aesthetic rejuvenation, involving the application of ablative agents to the skin to induce keratolysis and regeneration of damaged cell layers. Prolonged erythema is a distressing complication of medium-depth chemical peels. We report on the prevalence of prolonged facial erythema in a cohort of patients who underwent this procedure for severe photodamage. In each case there was an aetiology of facial psoriasis.
