Abstract

In order to increase self steering ability of independently rotating wheelset (IRW), the new-type of IRW with inverse tread conicity is presented. In previous study, it is confirmed by experiment and simulation that the presented wheelset have higher self steering ability than conventional IRW, whereas the hunting stability of the new wheelset have never been researched by experiment. Therefore, experimental equipments are developed to verify the validity of constructed theory of simulation model for the new wheelset. Furthermore, the hunting characteristics and the effectiveness of longitudinal suspension for running stability is investigated with the identified simulation model.
