Abstract

Primary cutaneous follicle center lymphoma (pcFCL) is an indolent primary cutaneous B-cell lymphoma that most commonly occurs on the head (including scalp), neck, and back. pcFCL typically presents as a solitary to multiple erythematous nodule(s) or plaque(s). The authors present a case of atypical pcFCL in a 65-year-old woman manifesting as 2 discrete erythematous alopecic patches on the scalp, grossly resembling new-onset alopecia areata. Multiple punch biopsies with immunohistochemical (IHC) staining followed by flow cytometry were performed.
