Abstract

The flexible CO2 laser WaveGuide (Omniguide, Inc., Cambridge, MA), introduced in 2006 and used primary in otolaryngology until recently, provides the ability to laparoscopically access difficult to reach areas of the pelvis. Even newer designs allow for a robotic attachment and therefore additional maneuverability. The same benefits of CO2 laser technology still apply, namely, precise excision, coagulation and vaporization. We report on our initial experience using the WaveGuide in a patient with dense abdomino-pelvic adhesions.
