Abstract

Introduction: Rosacea, most recognized by its visible presentation, can be accompanied by symptoms such as burning and stinging. The majority of patients (60%) are bothered by physical discomfort which can significantly impact their quality-of-life (QoL). Additionally, some prescription treatments available for rosacea may induce burning/stinging, further compromising patient satisfaction and QoL. There is a lack of clinical evidence and management guidance on these symptoms, as they are typically reported as local skin-tolerability adverse events; with currently available treatments only indicated to treat the visible signs of the disease.
