Abstract

Introduction: Leishmaniasis is endemic in 98 countries. It is a vector-borne zoonosis, caused by protozoa of the genus Leishmania. The most common type of the disease is cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL). Morphologic variants of CL are influenced by the type of parasite and the host immune response. Sporotrichoid presentation of CL poses a diagnostic challenge for clinicians in endemic areas.
