Abstract

Low SES has been shown to be an independent risk factor for poor cardiovascular health and mortality due to cumulative effects of chronic stress, poor nutrition and other unknown variables. Beyond the short-term post-transplant phase, comorbidities play an immense role in longevity and quality of life. Whether donor SES has lasting effects on outcomes in heart transplant recipients and how it interplays with recipient SES is unknown and the topic of interest in this study.
