Abstract

To prevent fall accidents such as in bathrooms, the floor surface is not smooth but has various structures. However, no design method of the structures has been established. In addition, the standardized evaluation methods measure only the static friction and dynamic characteristic is not clear. This study aims to make clear the effect of the micro-structure on the slip in the wet environment through the measurement of dynamic friction. Compared with the smooth surface, the dynamic friction coefficient of floor materials with surface micro-structure is high under wet condition, while it is low under dry condition. This is a proper characteristic to prevent slipping on a wet floor surface.
