Abstract

Microcavity in organic light emitting diode (OLED) contributes to enhance the optical efficiency and color saturation. While a major tradeoff of strong cavity effect is its apparent angular color shift, especially for the RGB‐based OLED displays due to their subpixels' mismatched emission angular distributions. We propose a systematic optimization approach for RGB‐OLED displays. Three objectives, namely external quantum efficiency (EQE), color gamut coverage, and angular color shift of primary and mixed colors can be optimized simultaneously. Our optimization algorithm is proven to be effective for suppressing color shift, while keeping a relatively high optical efficiency and wide color gamut.
