Abstract

An adaptive modulation system for a liquid crystal (LC) phase modulator is demonstrated. In order to achieve the highresolution phase distribution, the information of the transmittance distribution transformed by phase retardation is applied. By the adjustment algorithm and adaptive algorithm, the phase distribution of the LC phase modulator can perfectly match the designed phase profile in a short modulation time. The adaptive modulation system shows potential application in optical communication, wearable device and display.
