Abstract
The growths of thermally grown oxide (TGO) layer of thermal barrier coating (TBC) interface were investigated to clear those effects of test temperature and thickness of TBC The specimen was composed of two kinds of coatings (top coat and bond coat) that was sprayed on a substrate of circular plate with diameter 20mm and thickness 3mm. A furnace device was used in constant heating test of TBC system in air. The thickness of TGO layer was measured from the observation of the microstructure at the interface by SEM before and after those tests. The thickness of TGO layer was examined from those results in 800℃, 900℃ and 1200℃ by two kinds of specimens with top coat of thickness 0.3mm and 0.5mm. As a results, it was found that the growth of TGO layer was dependent on test temperature, but it was independent on thickness of top coat. Moreover, the growth of TGO layer could predict by previous proposed equation even if test temperature was different.
