Abstract

The need for robust design that enables the products to ensure robust performance in diverse conditions has been focused. Robust design guarantees robust performance in manufacturing variation of products and diverse use environment. In this study, new robust design method which is applicable to diverse design problems was proposed. In this method, the robust index, the weighted robust index, and the adjusted robust index are used as evaluation indexes of robustness. And confirming the effectiveness, the proposed robust design method was applied to a public seat design. As a result of the verification, the solution obtained by the proposed robust design method was better than the existing method, and it was confirmed that the general versatility of the proposed method.
