Abstract
We report the measurement of the 31P magnetic shielding components of a phosphirane molecule. Its high field isotropic resonance is found to result from a unique eigenvalue at very high field. A comparison of this behaviour with that of cycloalkenes and of other phosphines is presented. A relationship between the magnetic shielding anisotropy and a geometrical parameter θ, characteristic of the strain at the nucleus under study, is emphasized.
