Abstract
Introduction and aims: In European countries, migrant women, especially those from sub-Saharan Africa, have a higher risk of adverse maternal outcomes than non-migrants. However, the mechanisms of these inequalities remain poorly understood. In addition to geographical origin, legal status could also be an important, and potentially actionable, determinant of maternal risk. Our aim was to assess the risk of severe maternal outcomes among migrant women, considering both their legal status and birthplace.
