Abstract

Based on our recent single institutional data in lung transplantation, donors with smoking history had better long-term outcomes than those with no smoking history (65.8% vs. 48.3% in 5-year survival, p<0.05), which is opposite to the conventional expectation as well as those previously reported. This study revisited the effect of donor smoking status on early and late outcomes in lung transplantation while currently donor selection criteria including cigarette smoking history has been liberalized.
