Abstract

In this study, adhesive strength of Thermal barrier coating is evaluated experimentally. The relationships among heating temperature, heating time, Thermal growth oxidation (TGO) layer thickness and adhesive strength of top coat are examined by scraping shear test. It is found that the longer heating time and the higher heating temperature, the larger the amount of growth of the TGO layer. The rate of growth TGO layer become constant after 50000s. Change in position of flaking can be observed depending on heating time. This is because that heat treatment makes the interface strong, so the TC strength becomes weak relatively.
