Abstract

Development of efficient actuators is most important factor to save energy consumption and to improve performance of conventional actuation systems. In this research, we propose rotation type of electric and pneumatic hybrid actuator. We combine the pneumatic vane motor with high power/weight ratio and the electric servo motor with high accuracy and control The prototype of small and powerful hybrid actuator has been developed to apply to the actuation systems such as small robots. It is experimentally investigated to evaluate the performance of fine positioning, quick response and robustness of disturbance.
