Abstract

For forming magnesium alloy cabinets at the low load, a new warm forging process, in which a magnesium alloy plate is heated between upper and lower dies kept at the forging temperature and then partially compressed using a servo press to generate side walls, flanges and ribs for reinforcement of the cabinet, is proposed. It is clarified that the cabinets are finished into near-net-shape without defects by applying the forging process.
