Abstract
Numerical simulation method to analyze unsteady flow phenomena in the upper plenum and the hot-leg piping system in Japan Sodium cooled Fast Reactor (JSFR) has been developed. As one of the most significant issues related to unsteady phenomena, a flow-induced vibration (FIV) in the hot-leg piping with the short elbow (curvature radius corresponds to diameter) is mainly targeted in this study. At the first step of the simulation model development, models of the hot-leg piping with the short elbow integrated into a symmetric half domain of the upper plenum were constructed. Through the numerical simulations in the half sector model, applicable numerical schemes and turbulence model were confirmed and requirements of mesh arrangement for the transient calculation for unsteady phenomena analysis were revealed.
