Abstract

The diagnosis and management of vascular anomalies of the upper extremity is challenging. Since the last iteration of this chapter, basic science and clinical refinements have introduced new nomenclature and better understanding of these complex conditions. This review will delineate the entire spectrum of benign and malignant vascular anomalies in the upper extremity. Updated classification scheme will be presented, including newly described entities such as fibro-adipose vascular anomaly (FAVA) and congenital lipomatous overgrowth with vascular malformations, epidermal nevi, and skeletal anomalies (CLOVES). Basic science advances will be briefly presented, with focus on identifying responsible mutations.
