Abstract

Electro adhesive gel (EAG) shows a unique characteristic changing its surface adhesive property according to the applied electric field, which is useful for fixing devices and mechanical brakes. However, the individual difference of EAG caused by the production process has been still problems, such as instability of adhesive performance. Hence, Electro Adhesive Surface (EAS) applying a 3-dimensional micro structure fabricated by the photolithography is developed. In this study, in order to improve the performance of fixing force and apply the fixture device in vacuum, a new sheet of EAS is proposed. In experiments, fixing force of new EAS and adhesive surface in vacuum are investigated. Experimental results show that fixing force of the proposed EAS increases about 1.5 times to conventional one. The adhesion is confirmed in vacuum when the electrical field is applied to EAS.
