Abstract
The purpose of this exhibit is to illustrate the sonographic findings of the basal-like subtype of invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast. Basal-like carcinoma of the breast is recently described subtype of the breast invasive carcinoma. Expression of the basal-like breast carcinomas markers cytokeratin 5/6 and cytokeratin 17 predicted poor outcome in breast tumor patients. And current TMN study and larger series allowed confirmation of the frequency (15%) of this subtype on an independent cohort and found a clear association with short disease-specific survival.
