Abstract

Modern, commercially-produced viscose rayon varies appreciably in its susceptibility to the production of transversely oriented, microscopic fissures, according to the general fibre structure and mode of production. This paper gives the results of a comparison of different rayons, and suggests that fissures and the related delustring are sometimes responsible for the defective appearance of fabrics.
