Abstract
A computerized data-handling system, which has been successfully applied to four independent veterinary field studies over a period of three years, is described.Adoption of the system has led to a large reduction in the clerical effort involved in data validation, classification and statistical evaluation of results, and report preparation, with consequent substantial savings in cost. Extensive use is made of the graphical output capabilities of the computer for presentation of data in the form of figures, scattergrams and bar-charts.The operation of the system is described in non-mathematical terms, and is illustrated throughout by reference to data from a field trial of azaperone (R 1929), a sedative for swine.
