Abstract
Systems Engineering is developing rapidly as a discipline and there is a growing number of academic courses aiming to provide education in Systems Engineering. In the past, Systems Engineers have tended to learn, on the job and this experienced based education is still essential. The challenge facing organisations which apply Systems Engineering in conducting their business is to be clear what they want from Systems Engineering and what Systems Engineering means in their application. The organisation's educational needs for Systems Engineering can then be derived and the sources identified. In effect, taking a Systems Engineering approach to delivering Systems Engineering Education. The paper outlines a framework of Systems Engineering roles in which Systems Engineers are developed and points to suitable type and sources of education.
