Abstract
This chapter gives an overview of the changes made by the National Socialists in Germany with regard to marriage and divorce law. It looks at what marriage and divorce law contained before the National Socialist takeover in 1933. The chapter gives an overview of marriage and divorce law as laid down in the German Civil Code of 1900. It deals successively with the rules concerning the conclusion of marriage, annulment of marriage, and dissolution of marriage. The chapter deals with the changes made during the Nazi period. It starts with the initial period of National Socialism, in which laws were not so much changed, but re-interpreted according to the new 'general national principles'.
