Abstract

The basic trends in studies of the problem of female employment are determined by their role in the development and utilization of labor resources. One of the directions of research seeks to reveal the relationships between general trends in the utilization of labor resources and the specific features of a given population group. This has in large measure shaped the questions taken up in this paper: analyses of changes in the levels of female employment, factors affecting women's employment in the economy, the distribution of women by industries, occupations, and skills, geographic differences in the utilization of female labor resources — that is, the most important aspects of the use of labor resources that help most fully to reveal specific processes connected with female employment.
