Abstract
After having just about survived the wretched voyage, Guam appeared a fantastically beautiful island. On 8 December 1941, a few hours after their attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, the Japanese invaded the island and faced little resistance. The author and his companions entered a port called Piti, north of the Apra Harbor on the central west coast of the island and stayed there for three days. After the unloading, their company walked to the east, and was put on guard duty along the coast east of Agana. Towards the end of March 1944, the situation on Guam suddenly deteriorated. Some of the Japanese women and children were taken back to Japan. From towards the end of May 1944, US air strikes began. During a break in the US air strikes, the navy's bombers took off on assault mission.Keywords: Agana; Apra Harbor; Guam; Piti; US air strikes
