Abstract
In the current work, a new global/local finite element model is presented and the corresponding computer program COMSA is developed. The finite element model only need a 2-D element mesh and consists of 4-node degenerated plate elements, multilayer solid elements, and multilayer transition elements. In order to illustrate the accuracy and the efficiency of the partial hybrid finite elements and the capacity of the software COMSA for 3-D stress analysis, the analysis of the free edge problem is presented.
