Abstract

In response to limited access to child and adolescent psychiatrists, Children’s Telephonic Psychiatric Consultation Service (TiPS) provides real-time consultation to primary care providers (PCPs) for pediatric patients with mental health (MH) concerns. It is estimated that 8% to 10% of children younger than 6 years old (yo) experience clinically significant MH problems, yet access lines have typically focused on older children. Our objective is to characterize pediatric telephone consultation for this younger group.
