Abstract
ASD and ADHD have considerable overlap, supporting the need for a dimensional framework that examines neurodevelopmental domains that cross traditional diagnostic boundaries. In a previous study, we used factor analysis to deconstruct the ASD-ADHD phenotype into 4 underlying phenotypic domains: inattention, hyperactivity/impulsivity, social communication, and restricted and repetitive behaviors and interests (RRBIs). In the following study, we identify groups based on similarities in factor scores across these underlying ASD and ADHD neurodevelopmental domains using latent profile analysis and evaluate the clinical meaningfulness of these groups by comparing them on adaptive functioning.
