Abstract
The title compound (C 11 H 10 N 2 O) was isolated, together with other indole derivatives, from the acetone extract of the red algae Chondria atropurpurea. The acrylamide group deviates only slightly from the overall planarity of the entire molecule. The packing is stabilized by an intermolecular interaction between an amide H atom and the indole ring.
