Abstract

Previous research has shown that sleep difficulties are associated with symptoms of depression and anxiety in youth. During the peaks of COVID-19, many children were homebound and faced interruptions to their academic and social development as well as their sleep schedules. Thus, there was likely an exacerbation of sleep problems for youth during COVID-19. Using data collected from youth in a partial hospitalization program (PHP), we investigated if enrollment in the program before vs during COVID-19 moderated the associations of sleep difficulties with symptoms of depression and anxiety.
