Abstract

Sluggish cognitive tempo (SCT) is a clinical construct that is characterized by daydreaming, lethargy, feeling and appearing tired, lacking motivation, mental confusion, and slowed behavior and thinking (Becker, 2021; Penny et al, 2009). Past literature has shown mixed findings regarding the association between SCT and processing speed in ADHD and community samples. However, the association has not been examined in children with reading disorder (RD), who face deficits in processing speed and have shown problems with SCT.
