Abstract

This paper studies the direction of the third-generation universal design. Modern society aspires toward a sustainable, inclusive community that respects human diversity and universal values. The direction of the third generation of universal design aims for inclusive design, avoiding the pre-definition or restriction of users based on physical attributes or roles. Focused on textile fashion products, our key features include 'gender-free users,' 'function-centric design,' 'diverse options,' 'user integration,' 'pre-emptive design prediction,' 'ethical manufacturing,' and 'implicit functionality and fashion expression.' These underscore the evolution toward promoting social integration for sustainability and respecting human diversity. Acknowledging the third generation of universal design as a pivotal trend for an inclusive textile fashion industry, we anticipate continued efforts in product development and expanded discussions.
