Abstract
In hand gesture recognition, after segmenting hand from image, it should be extracted some features, such as hand center, finger and fingertip positions. This paper introduces a robust method based on distance transformation and Hough transformation to extract hand features exactly and fast. Firstly, a number of feature points will be determined from the distance transformation image, and then Hough transformation will be calculated on them to detect hand center, fingertips and finger direction. Because the number of feature points is just sufficient and not so much, the processing time will be reduced.
