Abstract

We have been developing an information projection interface for a mobile robot. The robot has a pan-tilt-zoom camera (PTZ camera) and a projector with a pan-tilt mechanism. It can project information anywhere in the environment and guide a person. The user can input commands by a simple gesture using the foot on the dialog box projected onto the floor. In this paper, we propose a method that the robot identifies the user from the persons around the robot using features of shoes; color and color differences. Experiments with ten kinds of shoes show that accuracy is about 73[%], precision is about 77[%], and specificity is about 81[%].
