Abstract

This work reports on measurements of energy distribution of electrons emitted by Aluminum surfaces under the impact of singly charged noble gases and sodium ions, incident with energies up to 10 keV, focused on collisional excitation of target atoms. Analysis of the spectra give insight into several collisional excitation and charge exchange processes that occur during the cascade of atomic collisions, which are important in the understanding of charge fractions, electron emission and energy loss phenomena.
